Course Feedback Data
At the conclusion of the course, we ask course participants to complete a three-section feedback survey through SurveyMonkey.
- Section 1: consists solely of demographic data and is not shared publicly
- Section 2: is the multiple-choice / ranking part of the feedback survey - we have made this available for viewing. CLICK HERE to see course feedback data from our past PORi - Oncology Rehabilitation Specialist Courses (this will open in a new tab)
- Section 3: consists of open-ended feedback questions. Not all participants wish to have their feedback shared and the feedback is optional. We have included some highlights below
Comments from past course participants
Q19: The strengths and weaknesses of the instructor:
Julia is absolutely amazing, I am intrigued by her passion and dedication to our profession and this subject manner. I am excited to use her as a mentor while getting into this niche market. I did not see any weaknesses.
LS (PT) - 2014
Julia has such a passion for this patient population that it is impossible to not be inspired to do this work Very good ability to make the science and pathophysiology relevant.
HP (PT) - 2014
Q20: The instructor’s in-class presentation (e.g., organization, clarity, interest, balance, use of theory and policy in analyzing questions).
Clear, concise, well organized. The manual will be an excellent resource.
SW (PT) - 2014
Q21: The patient lab sessions:
Hands-on lab sessions with patients were very effective in enforcing the material presented in class. Great to see so many different reconstructive surgeries. Maybe have a patient with dense, fibrotic tissue ion the arm...... but you may not have many since your treatment is so effective!
CC (PT) - 2014
I LOVED the patients. It truly allowed us to practice our techniques and critique them to be expert level.
LS (PT) - 2014
these sessions were very valuable. It makes the material much more applicable when applying on real patients. Also, it was amazing seeing the change in patients after only one treatment session.
SM (PT) - 2014
Q23: Any other comments or suggestions (e.g., adherence to regular class schedule, use of class time, etc.).
I came away from this class with more than I was expecting. Not only is Julia an excellent instructor, but she's found a way to have a profound effect on the lymphatic system and the typical impairments of cancer patients. I feel absolutely fortunate to have had to opportunity to take this class and am already looking forward to future classes!
SM (PT) - 2014
I have truly enjoyed this course. It has challenged and intrigued me to take my practice to the next level. I definitely want to use Julia as a mentor as I take on this journey. Thank you very much for this opportunity!

Testimonials from other courses taught by Julia
It's almost a month since we met in Chicago at your course, and I've literally carried your manual with me to work and home! Thanks again for a brilliant presentation and information that came at the perfect time for me. MS (OT) 2011
I attended the seminar you put on in Tacoma, WA and had a comment regarding the Manual Therapy Program Guidelines. I have found dramatic success using the trigger point techniques and MLD. MK (PT) 2012
I took your Advanced Oncology Rehab for Successful Outcomes in MD a couple of weeks ago. I was so excited to return to the clinic to apply the techniques I learned. I treated a patient three months post mastectomy when I returned from the class. I utilized manual lymph drainage on the trunk, trigger point release, scar tissue mobilization, and stretching as instructed in the class. To my amazement after only one session her left upper extremity swelling reduced 3.5 cm without even touching her arm. Her flexion range of motion increased 25 degrees. I have seen good results with manual lymph drainage in the past however not this fast. I just wanted to thank you for helping me become a more rounded lymphedema therapist. Now I feel I am treating all aspects of the diagnosis not just concentrating on the lymphedema... KH (PT) 2012
It was such a pleasure to meet you and take your course this past weekend. As we discussed, I find your approach exciting and refreshing; I actually can't wait to get to work today! That I can teach patients that they have an elegant system capable of repair and renewal, not just a broken one that requires lifelong compression and wary vigilance, puts a beautiful and positive spin on everything I am doing in the clinic. VB (OT) 2013
I was in your course this Spring in San Ramon. I have been incorporating your approach to post- surgical patients with excellent (early ) results so far….The physicians and cancer community here are starting to get wind of our treatment success (thanks to you!) and are very interested in what we are trying to do. DG (PT) 2013
Just wanted to send a quick note of gratitude for the wonderful course over the week-end. You are certainly a gifted therapist, and an even better human being, as you are obviously very compassionate and give so much of your talents and knowledge to your patients and to your students. On a personal level, I am deeply appreciative of working with me in lab, and helping me with my situation. (Incidentally, my cord still is reduced this morning, and I do feel less stiff) Thanks for providing me tools that I can help myself, and hopefully, once treatment is over, giving me the foundations for a new purpose in my professional career, to help other cancer survivors perhaps. SMZ (PT) and Breast Cancer Survivor 2013
A colleague and I attended you fabulous course in Las Vegas on Advanced Management of Breast Cancer Rehab. We have been talking about the class ever since we returned to the clinic. Thank you so much. I am really having fun treating this population. Cancer patients really do ROCK!! SD (PT) 2012
